Learn how to fill out the ballot when there are only five ranks but six or more competitors
In some events such as Impromptu and SPAR, there will only be five ranks available on the ballot. In the preliminary rounds, however, there may be six or more competitors in the round.
When this happens, tie the lowest ranking competitors. This means that the lowest ranking competitors will all be fifth place.
The following is a real SPAR ballot from a prior tournament. There were 8 competitors, so the ranks were selected as: 1 2 3 4 5 5 5 5
You cannot tie any other rank besides 5th place.
